Ashtanga Yoga

Rooted in the eight-limbed yoga of Patanjali, Ashtanga or Raja ("Royal") Yoga utilizes postures (asanas) and breath work (pranayama) as preparation for meditation, cleansing the body/mind system of collected patterns and impurities and allowing the practitioner to achieve a state of peace and concentration. The one-hour session will include moderate asana practice to stretch and warm the body, breathwork to cleanse the system, and will end with relaxation and meditation to focus the mind.

Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga is the yoga of self-discovery and conscious awareness. Kripalu Yoga uses breathing, postures and deep relaxation to revitalize the body, calm the mind and cultivate compassionate awareness; bringing the mind, body and spirit into a state of harmony and balance.

A Kripalu Yoga class includes

  • Coming into the present moment by centering the body, mind and breath.
  • Warm ups that synchronize the breath with movement and prepare the body for more in-depth postures.
  • Creative asana (posture) sequences that are designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body.
  • Deep relaxation and meditative awareness to integrate the practice and rejuvenate the body and mind.

Ongoing practice of Kripalu Yoga awakens the prana (life force) within. This awakened prana profoundly transforms, heals and enlivens the body, mind and spirit.
